The Musikverein was founded on 5 January 1970 as a music club "Harmony" Bellingen by a few music-loving citizens.
The difficult situation of the first year presented the young club with a particular problem.
There were no instruments, no sheet music and a uniform was not available.
Thanks to the help of the community and some supporters, as well as the willingness of parents to buy expensive musical instruments and a first uniform, these difficulties could be mastered.
Since 1977, the Musikverein is registered in the register of associations of the district court Montabaur
and since then has been the name Musikverein "Harmonie" Bellingen eV.
The Musikverein is a member of the Kreismusikverband Westerwald eV as well as its parent Landverband Rheinland-Pfalz and the Bundesverband.
Today, the Musikverein "Harmonie" Bellingen eV counts 139 members and 55 active members of the Stammorchester including 3 honorary members.
